About

Karin Hassle was born in Stockholm in 1960. She is known for her unique style that communicates strong emotions through glass objects, with a confident command of form and color.

In 1997, Karin moved from Vaxholm’s harbor to the forests of Sörmland outside Katrineholm. In 2002, she started her own glass studio in the barn at the Björnåsen farm. Each object carries a message, and Karin’s exhibitions can therefore include both glass and poetry.

Her artistic journey began with textiles and continued with ceramics before she chose glass as her medium when she was over 40 years old. Just like her role model Astrid Lindgren, she found her true calling later in life.

Karin Hassle has honed her craft through international education and collaborations with Swedish glassworks. In 2017, Reijmyre Glasbruk entrusted her with the prestigious task of designing her personal addition to the factory’s hundred-year-old classic Jugend series.

Her works are represented in prestigious locations such as Stockholm City Hall, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the indigenous Onondaga Nation, and several Swedish cities, corporations, churches, and authorities. Karin Hassle has a series of prestigious international assignments on her resume, underscoring her prominence in the field.
